 Bandung Choral Society was founded in July 2000.
Its mission is to build a strong choral life in Indonesia by organising many events: concerts, seminars, workshops, choral music camps, collaborations, competitions and symposia.
Through some projects,singers and conductors gain experience,by building skills, knowledge, and attitudes in workshops, rehearsals, and concerts. These projects involve various levels of choirs from children’s choir, to choirs of youth and seniors. BCS’s events involve various institutions, choral communities, schools, and churches from all over Indonesia and internationally.
Moreover, the mission has been enlarged by organising larger events involving hundreds of participants. BCS organised the Symposium on Church Choral Music in 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2011, the North Sulawesi International Choir Competition in 2008, the Tomohon International Choir Competition in 2009 and 2010.
Recently, BCS organized the 4th Symposium on Choral Music in Bandung and the Bandung International Choir Competition, July 2011.
Apart from these interesting musical activities, BCS builds mutual understanding and friendships among singers, conductors and between nations.
